- Events — Number of tournaments or events the player has participated in.
- Best Finish — The player’s top performance or highest position achieved in any event or tournament (e.g., “1st (⚡ Blitz)”).
- Status — Qualification progress: Q (Qualified), IC (In Contention), or DNQ (Did Not Qualify).
Qualification Paths
Rating Spot (1)
Must play ≥ 40 rated rapid games (vs players ≥ 1500) and at least one Grand Rapid. If ineligible or declines, the spot passes to the next eligible player.
Fupre Chess Tour (3)
Top 3 on the semester Tour leaderboard qualify directly.
Grand Swiss (2)
Top 2 finishers of the Grand Swiss qualify.
Classic TJ (2)
Top 2 finishers of the Round Robin qualify.
If a player qualifies via multiple paths, their extra slot passes to the next eligible player from that path.
Qualification System for FUPRE Chess Masters (FCM)
The FUPRE Chess Masters will feature 8 players, selected through 4 qualification paths.
1 Rating Spot 1 Player
Awarded to the highest-rated player in FUPRE Rapid ratings.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must have participated in at least one Grand Rapid event during the qualification period.
- Must have played a minimum of 40 rated rapid games.
- Of those games, the majority must be against opponents rated 1500 Elo or higher.
- If the top-rated player is ineligible or declines, the spot passes to the next highest-rated eligible player.
2 FUPRE Chess Tour 3 Players
Timeline: Runs each semester from the opening week to one week before FCM.
Scoring System:
- Lightning Blitz 1st: 5pts • 2nd: 4pts • 3rd: 3pts • 4th: 2pts • 5th–10th: 1pt
- Grand Rapid 1st: 15pts • 2nd: 12pts • 3rd: 10pts • 4th: 8pts • 5th: 6pts • 6th: 5pts • 7th: 4pts • 8th: 3pts • 9th: 2pts • 10th: 1pt
- Other Major FUPRE Chess Events 1st: 25pts • 2nd: 20pts • 3rd: 15pts • 4th: 12pts • 5th: 10pts • 6th: 8pts • 7th: 6pts • 8th: 4pts • 9th: 2pts • 10th: 1pt
Qualification: The Top 3 players on the Tour leaderboard earn spots in FCM.
3 Grand Swiss 2 Players
Format: Open Swiss-system tournament (7–9 rounds, depending on number of participants).
Qualification: The Top 2 finishers qualify for FCM.
4Classic TJ2 Players
Format: Round Robin Tournament.
Top 10 players in the Fupre Chess Tour standings one week before the Classic TJ Tournament are eligible to participate. If any player in the top 10 chooses not to partake—either for personal reasons or due to already securing qualification—their spot will be offered to the next eligible player in the standings.
Qualification: The Top 2 finishers qualify for FCM.
